Photography- Project Idea

I wanted to make this photography project really personal. After reflecting on childhood memories I didn't think that memories of my childhood would be as strong in comparison to more recent memories. Following looking over my work since starting this course, I went back to my '10 items to represent my past and present'. Out of all of the objects my x-ray really stood out for me.

Due to my operation being fairly recent I think basing my project on it worked well, as the experience was fresh in my mind. There is also a lot of strong emotional feelings surrounding my operation, which made me put a lot more thought into the project. Basing my project on my operation is relevant to future memories as my new appearance will be part of my future memories.

First shoot

For my first shoot I wanted to conduct a still life with objects relevant to my operation. I think this added more meaning to the project as all objects were very personal to me during my recovery of my operation. I used a black background for this still life as it make the viewer focus on the still life objects more as there is nothing else to distract it. I experimented with different angles throughout this shoot to make the images more interesting, as this revealed different areas of the set up.  The lighting for this shoot was artificial. I blocked out all day light and put the lights on in the room that I was photographing. My still life was also placed directly underneath the lighting in the room.
