Editing- Fourth Edit

For my fourth edit my main focus was to focus on improving the sound. I separated the audio from each clip so I could edit it to a better quality.

To control the volume of the sound I moved the bar running though the audio, up and down. Some clips sounded louder than others because there was some wind interference as the interviews were outside. I also picked up some background noises of animals so had to edit the volume so they couldn't be heard as much.

I also used the fader to allow the audio to fade in and out. In doing so the audio flowed much better throughout the film. If I hadn't of done this I think some clips would sound very harsh.

I also added in titles to my film so people would know that it was made by me. I wanted to give my film a title. After giving it some thought I decided to title my film 'In the company of wolves'. I feel this title is appropriate for more than one reason. It references humans living in the same world as wolves. however also refers to Mike and especially Shaun who interact/ live with wolves on a daily basis. I feel think title gives some indication of what the film is focusing on, humans relationships with wolves.

Again I wanted someone to watch my work and give me some feedback. I asked one of my friends from outside Ravensbourne to watch my film. Her feedback to this edit was:

  • Abrupt stop from first speaker- felt as if almost halfway through a sentence- 'everyone else.." he takes a breathe to continue
  • Like the overlay of the cartoon behind the speaker
  • Pixelated hunting clip, however well selected clip
  • Sick clip at the end on relating wolves to society & ourselves- relates back to the audience.

I now feel that my film is almost complete and am very pleased with the structure and footage included in my film. However I am going to do one last edit so that the first interview with shaun flows better, as Amy identified it sounds like he is going to continue speaking. There is also an overlaying clip of a wolf that I feel looks out of place so I plan to look for a better piece of footage.
