For my second edit I wanted to change the structure of my film, therefore it would flow better and would be much easier to watch. From the responses from my peers and tutors, I was advised to try and make the film more concise as there were bit of footage that weren't necessarily needed in the film. Therefore for this edit I got rid of the unnecessary clips which cut down the length of my film a fair amount.
After showing my first edit to one of my tutors (chris), he suggested that I included some narration in my film to help explain the story more. Through the edit I have added/left areas that could be used for narration purposes. These areas consist on, hunting footage, which could be narrated informing about the relationship between man and wolf. There is a section of footage of a wolf walking around its enclosure, I feel that this could be a good area to narrate and raise some questions within my film. The last area is footage of Shaun interacting with his wolves, I could use this bit to introduce him and explain about some of the work that he does with wolves.
Here is the new structure of my film following the second edit:
- Opening title
- Howling
- Shaun- Fear of wolves- how he started
- Mike-Fear-myths and legends
- Hunting footage-room for narration
- Wolf footage- room for narration
- Mike-What we can learn from wolves
- Shaun- room for narration
- Shaun-Biggest secret from wolves and what we can learn from them-past and future

I feel that after this edit the film makes a lot more sense and flows much smoother and has more of a story to it. There is now an arch in the middle which gives the film more of a structure, I feel the arch is the hunting footage. Although I have cut down some of the footage, I feel that it could be more concise.
After I completed this edit I showed it to my tutor Tom to get his feedback:
- Should have Shaun howling for longer at the beginning
- First interview clip with Shaun cut at "like everyone else"
- Cut down hunting footage-drags on for to long
- Continue to look for better hunting footage
- Try and use the footage you already have for narration
To progress with my next edit I need to continue cutting down my footage, so there is no unnecessary areas of footage. I still need to continue trying to find better quality footage of hunting, I also need to consider the length of this footage so it doesn't drag on for to long and get boring. To save myself more work I also need to listen through all my interview footage and see if I can use any of it as narration for the film.
