On friday the whole class gathered to listen to and discuss each others sound design piece. Some members of the class worked alone whilst others were in groups, therefore the crit took all day. Overall I was happy with the response that our groups sound piece got from the rest of the class. Almost everyone was able to guess what the piece was about without any help or clues to what it could be. The response to the cats neutering (snipping noises) evoked a big response from the class which was expected and I feel showed that we had produced the piece well. We were told that our piece sounded cartoon like which I think is good, as we wanted to over exaggerate the sounds used in our piece. However we did receive a negative response from one of the tutors that I feel was very misunderstood. It was suggested that we hadn't recorded most of the animal noises, suggesting that we hadn't done a lot of work. Which in fact was incorrect as the only animal noises we downloaded were a bird and a cat in distress, this was done because we didn't want to hurt a cat to get a recorded. This negativity did dishearten the group a bit as we felt we had done well in recording the vast majority of the noises used in our piece. We were also told that the piece was a little to long, so just to trim it down and discard some areas that weren't really needed. However for me I was proud of our piece as we all worked really well as a team and used our own material to create our sound piece.
